Editor and Custom Mansions - Wingy - 07-16-2011 I'm assuming that the level editor is going to be a separate app on the App Store available for purchase. This would be the best way to market this sort of tool for the game. However, I tried to open an old custom mansion from inside of Beta 4 - I have both episode 1 and 2 enabled. It didn't say anything was wrong, after I selected the mansion it just came back to the menu and nothing happened. Is there a way to play custom mansions yet or is that going to be in a later update? Re: Editor and Custom Mansions - triforceguy1 - 07-16-2011 I don't think you can open Custom Mansions yet as they have to be a folder, if that makes any sense. I tried the same thing you tried with the same results however, I later tried opening one of the Buit-In Mansion Folders and that seemed to work. If I had to guess, I would say that all data from each mansion is designated to its own folder Re: Editor and Custom Mansions - RobSeegel - 07-16-2011 I'm sure some variation of this will find it's way in docs included with the new game, but you can use a tool called rezycle (http://evolutioninteractive.com) to extract the resource fork from a file, in a similar fashion to unzipping/un-tarring an archive. The tool couldn't be simpler to use. Start it up, and then drag/drop a mansion you want to be convertedinto it's screen (or icon I think). The tool will create a directory in the same directory your mansion file is, and extract all the resources into it. From that point, it's simply a matter of renaming/relocating this extracted directory to the custom mansion folder. Once the mansion builder is redone, my guess is that you will no longer need rezycle since you'll (hopefully) be able to edit an expanded mansion directly. The player should get some sort of message saying that the old mansion format/packaging was unsupported or something along those lines. Re: Editor and Custom Mansions - Semi-Native - 07-16-2011 I did the Rezycle thing and the folder looks like all the others in MM HD, but I get the following error message when I try to open the custom mansion (see pic) Re: Editor and Custom Mansions - triforceguy1 - 07-16-2011 Is it definitely from MM1 not MM2? Re: Editor and Custom Mansions - Semi-Native - 07-16-2011 Yes, it's from MM1. Re: Editor and Custom Mansions - RobSeegel - 07-16-2011 Which mansion did you try, Semi-Native? Re: Editor and Custom Mansions - VernJensen - 07-16-2011 [Eh, ignore this message. See the one below instead.] Make sure to select the folder that is spit out by Rezycle. So if you convert Nightmare Mansion, then do Open Custom Mansion, and select Nightmare Mansion (the parent folder) and push OK. I rename them first, removing the Resources fromand single quotes. Re: Editor and Custom Mansions - VernJensen - 07-16-2011 Hmmm, based on the error message, it's possible you're trying to use a mansion that had custom tiles. Those need to be redone in the HD format to work. For now, open up the mansion's folder that Rezycle spit out and delete any 'Pict' folders you see inside. That should do the trick. |
