Yes - I don't distinguish between registered/unregistered accounts. In fact, the majority of
dubiousaccounts register successfully. Only a relatively small number require admin validation. I've only been checking against stopforumspam.com. I check the IP first, and if that gets no hits, I check the email address.
Requiring upgrade by admin was an incredibly smart thing. Otherwise, there would likely be no end of spam. that we'd be cleaning up.
I have a plan that I'm going to propose to Vern, which I hope will make a big difference, plus it will mean that we can use an easier to use captcha that doesn't use letters or numbers. I'm doing some testing on my own machine to verify the changes are OK. One of the plugins checks against stopforumspam automatically.
