Well, well, well... - triforceguy1 - 04-21-2014

Heya,

I've finally decided to get off my (metaphorical) ass and sort out dual booting so I can finally get back to creating new mansions, it's a hell of a lot more work than I originally thought it would take as apparently my normal OS X Snow Leopard Install disk won't work with Parallels only OSX Server Snow Leopard will... seriously?!?! But yeah, I just ordered a copy of Server from eBay and should hopefully be here by next week. So if all goes well I can finally get back to the mansion I started to build... THREE YEARS A GO!!!!! ...that's if I can find it of course Tongue

Leon

I had to get a new computer late last year and then found out I could no longer boot into Snow Leopard because the newer Macs can't run it. Totally bummed.
>Sad :'(

Oh Semi-Native, you should have bought an old one instead or you can buy one now! Tongue

For now I am using my mom's desktop as it doesn't support lion, but I shall tell everyone how my dual boot plan works out when I get the Server Snow Leopard Disk Smile

Re: Well, well, well... - otg - 04-23-2014

It can, but it needs the later updates. 10.6.7 I think or 10.6.8. The problem is that you can't install from a DVD or original installation file since they're 10.6

I used CCC (http://www.bombich.com) to make a disk image of a working 10.6.8 system that I found on an older mac and installed that on a partition on my new one. Restarted with option pressed and there it was, works like a dream Smile

With the MacBook Pros with Retina (from the early 2013 models) it doesn't have the drivers to run previous versions so you need to run it using a VM which is only compatible with OSX Server

Re: Well, well, well... - triforceguy1 - 04-26-2014

Well, I finally got it to work.

I got the Snow Leopard Server and created a VM using Parallels (I gots a trial lol) I had a problem with the sound but was able to quickly sort that out with thanks to the parallels support resources (http://kb.parallels.com/120937) and now everything works pretty great, with the odd sound glitches, the main menu music keeps skipping but everything else seems to work perfectly
