Title: On my wish-list
Post by rose on 17.02.2007 at 01:42:58
Hi!
I wish I could have my scores for the custom mansion on a list, in the same way as it is in the original mansions. Would that be possible??

Probably not going to happen. I'm not sure even how it would be stored and displayed, since it's essentially unlimited how many custom mansions you could have.

But ... but ... but ...
Maybe there is something we can do on the bards. I'll think about it.

Maybe you can make a board on the Custom Mansion area called "Custom Mansion Scores." And nobody can make a new topic, only admins. Each one will be a mansion's name. And when you beat the mansion, copy down the score, the lives, secrets and time. PM it to a Admin and he/she will edit the scores and maybe bump someone off and put their name up.  ;) Just an idea.

This IS an idea - provided that the players don't cheat on the records they send to the admin  ;)

We could send screen shots of the final results.

Yes, of course, how stupid of me  :-[

But none of us would ever DREAM of cheating, right?
;)

I was indeed thinking of a construction where the forummembers should send a screenshot to the administrators by PM. The only acceptable screenshot is like the example below. NOT from the finishing room.

And of course the topics with the scorelists will be locked. Although no one is cheating ... ;)

Only times I cheat is beta-testing! Some times I get killed because of a bug at 0 lives. And as Jack's skeleton was falling, I quickly pressed escape and typed it in. That was a close one!  ;D But I'd NEVER cheat in a mansion if I'm going for the scores. Can you put it in the scores if you didn't finish the mansion?  You do it in the scores at Actionsoft. You could put: Finish the Mansion: Yes or No.  :)

Since the future Custom Mansions World High Scores List only can be made by manual work, I am afraid that it only will be possible to bring FINISHED mansions into account.

In this era of digital retouching, not even screenshots prove anything. I could go into photoshop and make my screenshot say anything at all. :)

Still, we can agree to be honest, and the honor system mostly works with small groups of people.

I have the solution! We promote ryos to the chief of the CMWHL and we send him our ... movies. No more cheating!!! I suggest we start with MMaM. Movies from 6 to 12 hours each ... ;D ;D 8-) 8-)

I've tried to get a movie from Rose, everyone, but it wouldn't work! My computer would'nt reconize the data! MM wouldn't open it! Vern?  :-? I think this is something on the to-do list. Well we can easily get a camera and point it at the screen and record the computer.  ;)

Try having her zip the movie before sending it. Hopefully that'll do the trick.

I remember that Psychotronic had the same problem with his computer. He couldn't receive MM-movies unless they were ... zipped. Odd, but it worked.

Ooohhh.... It might work... anyways... People should try to send movies of them beating mansions! I'd love to watch people sit there for 80 minutes playing a mansion!  ;D

BACK TO THE TOPIC.

I see two problems about making a Custom Mansion High Scores List.

1° In contrary to the included mansions, custom mansions are much more changing. And any change of a mansion may have consequences for secrets, dollars and time. Example. Once, I reported a Jack-stuck to a designer. He was so nice to fix that silver/gold problem by adding an extra lever AND because of the inconvernience he also added a few moneybags. Very nice gesture, but ... Or more recently: the changes in Happy Christmas! and Sky Boxes certainly have their consequences.

2° The LIST itself. When the list is one post with the ten highest scores of all (now 57) custom mansions, than it will be an extremely long post. But when I make a board with a topic for each custom mansion, than there will be many pages with topics AND sorting topics is NOT possible. A topic is fixed to the date and time it got started.

It is even possible that an upgrade of the MM-game itself influences the high scores. But that is the same for the included mansions of course.

What if you put the version beside the score?  ::)

Yes. Yes. But how do I know the version?

No..... I think that's all gettin' too complicated.

Is it really so important to have a competitive list like that?..... I feel there is more important things to do...and I can imagine a thing like that becoming a truckload of work for the administrators.

I am afraid so. Although I had an anti-majorscroll-idea for point 2. Linking it somehow at the mansion-topics under List of Completed Mansions. But point 1 stays a problem. :'(

Hi!
I never got any notification on this thread but now I've found it.

Screenshot sounds good apart from that one doesn't see wich mansion is finished! And I just wanted something private on my puter, not showing it to anyone else.
