Title: Lode Runner
Post by brell on 27.02.2007 at 15:17:52
Lode Runner was a very good game.  I played both the original version and the championship version on my Apple IIc and made many custom levels.

Then came a sequel with all kind of new stuff, which was interesting at first but didn't really add much to the gameplay.  And then there was the 3D version.

That was my first "addiction" - gamewise!! I agree that the sequel just wasn't the same. Loved those old Apples, too!

There was another puzzle game, can't remember the name, where the number 3 was lost or stolen in the computer and the goal was to find it. It was a pretty good game with some great number puzzles for its day.

Oh, I have that! It's called "3 in Three". It's a cool little puzzle game. Very abstract and quirky.

Psychotronic -

Does it play on modern computers? Or on Classic? I would love to have a copy.

It runs in classic just fine. I got it off Home of the Underdogs.

Lode Runner doesn't seem to run right on my computer's classic environment! It opens up, and I see the menu bars appear, and it stops loading. I tried clicking the menu bars in the top left corner, but they wouldn't work.  :-? :'( It sounds like a very fun game and I want to try it!  :(

Interesting, seems he's even doing a sequel to A Fool's Errand, called A Fool And His Money:

Wingy -

When the files 'unzip' they have a .1 after their name - '3 puzzles .1', ' 3 in Three.1'. You have to delete the .1 in order for them to load properly. Also you have to have 256 colors in Classic - easiest way is to open another Classic application and go to the dear old apple menu and change the colors. Just remember to change them back when you go to OSX.

It was fun to play it again - the puzzles are still challenging and the whole game has, to me, a good feeling. It's not MM, but fun when the old carpal tunnel is acting up!!
