Dear friends,

I'd like to announce that my new mansion THE MANSION FAMILY: A Wondrous Place  is to be released soon.
It is now finished and will be thoroughly tested in this week.

It does feature a few smaller innovations, but also a couple of nods of reference to innovatiuons of other forum-members that have impressed me, like the "Toybox-trick" (recently re-activated by brell) etc.

It's a bit harder than TMF 1 (Mind Mines) but I tried to avoid frustration by adding enough save points. There will be 6 save pedestals, and the size is about 75 rooms.

Hope I have wet your appetite.....    Look forward to release !   ;)   :D

The Mansion Family 3? I have thing as give ONLY Family Mansion. And what's the Family Mansion 2?  :-/ :o

In another post a couple of weeks ago I had mentioned what's the reason for this:
The Mansion Family 2: Northern Lights, which I had started already back in spring 2007 and which featured among snowy landscapes also a new "magic spell" trick, was not completed (as of now).

I was not entirely satisfied with the snow and ice parts (which are not easy to do) and besides Joe B has done a very good snow job in his Ghosthunter mansion, so I abandoned the TMF 2 project for the time being. I will definitely complete it one fine day, but I guess that has to wait until the Exp.Pack is out, so I can use those features.

It's shame thpugh, as I'd have loved to bring you that new magic spell......  I'm waiting for almost 8 months now to introduce that. Unfortunately I couldn't include it in TMF 3, as thematically it wouldn't have made sense there.

If all else fails, I might build a small new mansion around it sometime.

Sounds like a fantastic mansion, I can't wait for it to be released, since I really enjoyed all your other CM's.   :)

TMF 2 also sounds very exciting, with snow and all, I think it's great that you are being patient to release it until you have the graphics you really want.  (Hard to do, though I imagine!)  I am going to play TMF;MM again (now for the third time) in preparation for your new one, even though the between mansion is still on hold.  

I'm looking forward to seeing the innovations, and playing a hard mansion. :D

BTW, of course I will wait with my release until your mansion has been released first.
It's always better if there are not several mansions being released at the same time.....

I am very much looking forward to both of your mansions. Jack has been exploring lots of old places lately, and is looking for new real estate.

Okay - Jack & I couldn't wait until tomorrow, so we skipped the real work and played twice more with these results:

Time: 41:58
Score: 23,250
Secrets: 92% (23)
10 lives

Then - I just finished again with this:

Time: 34:52
Score: 23,950
Secrets: 96% (24)
9 lives

On the last time through, I noted at each save point, how many secrets I had found, and it went like this:

1 - 3
2 - 4
3 - 8
4 - 13
5 - 21
6 - 22

So - AquaMat - I've searched and searched for that last "secret" spot - any chance you could just tell me in which section (between which 2 save points?)?????

you did very well, overall, I must say !

I cannot say for sure which secret you missed (as I have never checked how many secrets can be found before every save pedestal). All I know is: there are 25 secrets in the whole mansion.

But I have a guess:
There's one secret that even I have sometimes missed (during my first 10 play-throughs or so). That secret is near save pedestal 2, however I'm not telling you if it's before or after save 2.....let's just say it's in the vicinity.....

The secret I'm referring to is also "connected" to a little money and I think you're missing a little money as well...so it could very well be that !?!

On a completely unrelated but related note... I am SO EXCITED about the release of 'The Golden Compass' on December 6th - Woo! if you got stuck there you are apparently not playing the latest version (1.1) as this is exactly the "little issue" I fixed in the new update.

With 1.1 it should no longer possible to get up there at all !

Sure !

But I need to know where you are exactly !!?!

Are you already far away from save pedestal 1 ?

What you need to know: Between save 1 and save 2 there are TWO green keys to find.... so maybe you missed one ?

Also - no matter where you are in this mansion - you should always look for secret doors / rooms / ladders....
(Just a hint).  8-)

What a "Wonderful" mansion the "Wondrous Place" is !!! ;)

I really enjoyed all the colors, and the way you put bricks and tiles together to make them very appealing to the eye.  Great imagination and creativity.

I really liked the look of room # 14488, with the skeleton 'shishkebobs', it was fun to look at the way you put everything together. :o

In a couple of places it really took me a long time to figure out how to get blocks moving, and how to go from one room to another, but after taking a break or two, (and a drink or two!) I tried again, and figured it out.  [smiley=beer.gif]

Now that I have taken some time off from the mansion, I will go back and attempt to get all money and secrets.  (I think I got only 23 secrets altogether).  Could you post how much the total money score is, you mention a figure and rugsacks, but I would not know if I found all rugsacks.

Great work, can't wait for you to have everything you need to finish and release TMF 2. ::)

The absolute maximum money to be found within TMF3 (including the 2 add. backpacks) is 25.000 $ !

Is Room 14491, The Quilt Room, just pretty or is there more to it? It looks like you should be able to enter The Quilt from one of the sides, but all I do is die! Thanks.

No, there are no hidden secrets etc. if that's what you mean.....

The only surprise element / obstacle in this room is the re-appearance of the "you-know-what-effect" and Jack has to hurry to get to safe ground (like in those bad dreams where you want to run but can't)...!  ;)

I am stuck in room 14893. I went to the left and got the lantern, went down and to the left, couldn't go right, then back up to 14893. Where do I go from there? Great mansion BTW!

Yes that  was enough of a hint. But now I'm stuck in 14695, needing a blue key. I have a red, but where did I miss the blue??

Hi Nancy,

in room 14695 are you left or right of the (hidden) blue door ?

If you're left of the blue door (and need to open that) and you do not have a blue key you indeed missed it.
Go back a few rooms and have a look at places where you have forgot to look for hidden things and you'll get lucky I'm sure.

(I don't want to spoil it for you)   8-)

Am stuck in room 14293 - each time I try to jump onto the final left=hand vine, jack's head goes into the space where the snake used to be and I die.  Am I missing something here?  Is the jump possible? Great mansion so far...

Oh yes.....Matari!

Indeed you are missing something...... maybe you should try to explore all of room # 14293 before you start the jumping between the vines ?!

I love secrets..... and regular players of my mansions know that I tend to hide some of the secrets a little better (=harder) to add replay value to a mansion !   ;)    8-)
