Title: Bugs
Post by Leon on 29.11.2007 at 19:41:00
If there are any bugs of TotG, it would be grateful if you tell me what room the bug is in and the description of the bug. [smiley=dankk2.gif]

Hi Leon,

last night I played Temple Of The Gorgons ! I ended after 10 mins with 100 % secrets  8-) .....

I liked it..... BUT: There are a number of minor issues, like paths ending in nowhere etc.

Has it been beta-tested enough ?

I give you a few examples:

1. Room 16094: The path to the left suggests Jack can walk there, but there's no other room to the left, so that path leads to nowhere.
(While that is not lethal, it's not a good thing to have, either). You should just block the path to the left (or add a room).

2. Room 16287: Same thing

These should be the most important issues.

At times I found it got a bit too repetitive, like when Jack keeps falling into the lava while trying to jump over "unmarked" holes in the ground (over the course of 2 (!) rooms)......  It was funny once or twice, but not 6 times or more.... ;) 8-)

Apart from that, there are some good ideas in the Temple, and I'm certainly glad we have a new designer in our midst.

Yeah, I know..... "unmarked" maybe wasn't the correct term, and those layer-6 bits certzainly helped......

I found another bug in rooms 16288, and 16499. When I entered these rooms the game said it couldn't find 9.mp3. :-?

Yes. I know that Leon just a little bit too late realized that the was not allowed to use the extra musicfiles he wanted to add.

But he probably forgot to change the musicindexes in the mansion, now that those extra files will stay absent.

Leon, you'll have a look at it?

I'm trying to get permission for some music files that I will put in a suitable place on the forum so you can download it, but if I can't then i will change, which reminds me, TotG version 2.0 is coming out soon, I fixed:
16096 took away the pole and the mid air bricks so you can go up and down easier
16095 made it so you can get back up
16094 and 16289 put left walls up.

@ Leon: two remarks about your previous post. Just to inform you, as a rather new member and starting designer.

1° Although the mansion can be played, without the musicfiles 7, 8, ... it would be good if you don't wait too long about EITHER adding them OR fixing the musicindexes. Because in each room where a musicfile is missing, one gets an errormessage during play. And more important, if you finally want to add musicfiles, please don't put them on MMF yourself. The common way is to send them to one of the admins. Then, on the downloadpage, the forummembers will find a folder that contain your mansion, the musicfiles and a read-me-first file with instructions about how to swap the musicfiles. All together in one downloadpackage.

2° And concerning updates, the update you announce will be version 1.1 and not 2.0. We are trying to handle all custom mansions in the same way. The second cypher changes when the update only contains fixes. The changing of the first cypher is for expansions or serious rearrangements of a mansion.

OK I will try to keep that in mind on my newest mansion

Jack fell through a trap and into a lower room with lava at the upper half and red brick wall on the bottom half. He got stuck (I couldn't see him or hear him move). I turned the room number on but they didn't show, nor the number of secrets or the number in the right upper corner. Then I got an error message (forgot what it said though). The application crashed!!

Leon!
I have played the mansion again and fallen several times through the traps but now it worked as it should!! Don't loose any sleep over it!

Pweh! I was already wondering if this was a mansion-problem or a game-bug. Since designers can't be blamed for application-crashes! :)

Freddy!
How come I am not getting any notification from this thread??? I have posted here. shouldn't it come automatically?

It really should, if you did ask for at the bottom of this topic. Posting alone is not enough.

There isn't any difference (possible) between the several topics. In the Admin Center we can only say YES or NO about allowing notifications. And our answer was of course: yes.

Why this notification-system sometimes doesn't work or gives serious delays, I don't know. Must be a forumbug, I suppose. :(
