Title: A Portly Senior w/Newtoy and questions
Post by imgonagetcha on 28.12.2007 at 07:33:12
I just started MM about two weeks ago and and have been really enjoying it. Such a pleasure compared to the "blowup everything and /or kill everybody" games that seem to be the "In thing" now a days. After having browsed thru this forum I do have a couple of questions about it; I see mention about 24 original mansions and room numbers. My version of the game has 8 mansions and I wonder how do you find room numbers and is it possible to add these other mansions, also is it possible to get 100% secrets?

Please bare with me folks since I am a 76 year old computer illiterate and have finally found a game I can enjoy and it appears there is even more to it.

Hi there, Imgonagetcha, :D

Welcome to our forum, always great to meet new members.

The original 24 games are the 8 games, in easy/med/hard modes.

Yes, it is possible to get 100% secrets, but it may take a bit of work, but well worth the effort. ::)

I also agree, there are so many gory games out there, with limited player choices and movement, but once you get involved with MM, there is no turning back.   ;D

The other great thing is that once you are hooked, and are feeling up to it, you can design your own custom mansions for others to play, and it is great.  Especially now, since the expansion pack with over twenty new mansions will be out soon!  This expansion pack also includes great new items for designing fantastic mansions, and only your imagination will be the limit! :)

I strongly suggest once you have done the original 8 (24) mansions, you move on to the 83 Custom Mansions that individual designers have built, they are wonderful and unique.  (You can find them on the forum to be downloaded under custom mansions.) ;)

To see which room you are in, simply press the 'apple key' and the D key, and you will see the room in the upper left corner of your screen.

Good luck, and hope to see you again on the forums soon !!! :D

Welcome to MM, Imgonagetcha! It's great to see more older players joining in. Have fun playing.

Also, when you hit Command-D, you'll see the number of secrets you've found in the lower right corner.
8-)

First off, I have changed my scree name as that other one was just tooooo lonnnng! Strange that you should mention the number in the lower right corner, since my next question was what that number was I am also curious as to just how many secrets there are in each mansion.
MM has another addict, I was up till two this morning after starting Night Mansion.
Thanks again for the education.

The number shown in the upper right corner is only important for mansion builders: frames per second. You will notice that this number is constantly going (a little bit) up and down. And the closer it is to 60, the better. As a player you don't need to give it any attention.

About your other question. The amount of secrets in each mansion differs. But, when you reach the exitdoor of a mansion, you'll see a "Mansion Complete"-screen that shows you the % secrets you did find. An example (of a good score in a tough custom mansion) you can see at this topic: http://www.actionsoft.com/forums/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1197931279

Now, if you know how many secrets you found and you see how much % secrets that is, you can calculate how many secrets there are to be found in the mansion you played.

Btw, talking about calculating, are you sure that oletraf76 is shorter than Imgonagetcha? ;) ;D

It may not be much shorter, but for certain apropos of.
