Title: A Tale of One City - 1001 Doors
Post by Freddy on 20.04.2008 at 03:57:15
That is the name of my new mansion. ;D You don't need to worry, since it is the working title. Maybe it is going to be 101 Doors or 11 Doors. Don't know yet. Just started designing.

In this mansion there will be a growing difficulty of (coloured) door puzzles.

So far I have ... only 2 doors. :-? And they are both in the starting room which is more or less ready. Here it comes:

Watch out! ;D The gap to the most right sinking platform is a little bit wider ... 8-)

Maybe it is because I don't like zapper beams etc. ?! ;D

Mansion is growing very fast. Added one room with a third door today. :-?

Hmm....

First you made one room with two doors.
Then you make one more room with one door.

Do we have a pattern here?

The next room will be with a half door
and the next after that with a quarter of a door ... etc.

So you will never finish the fourth door.

And you call this "a growing difficulty of (coloured) door puzzles"!

I would call it a shrinking difficulty.  :) ;) ;D

Hmmm as well.

The Zeno paradox?? :-?

But, if the first room has 2 doors and the second room 4, then how many doors are there in the 64th? ;D The grain-chessboard-problem!!

I'll have to go on a diet so "I" will be able to squeeze through the 64th door ;D

Freddy, please give Jack a rugsack in the first room to help carry all those keys!
8-)

There is no need for a rugsack, because the real pattern is:
1st room with 2 doors
2nd room with 1 door
3rd room without doors
4th room with ... -1 door ;D

"Mansion info" showed me that I have 11 rooms by now. And the release-name of the mansion may be: Loops.

So, Freddy, how will you get Jack to carry minus keys?   ::)

[smiley=bath.gif] A minus rugsack, of course! [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

Eleven rooms are ready now. So far I can tell you that one needs to earn his/hers saving points. And I am very thrifty with dollars. 8-) A pretty tough mansion, that needs to be visted and revisited, it is going to be. And its release-name: Loops.

What do you think of the added background? It is a faded version of one of Sam's backgrounds from Church. If you all like it, I'll ask Sam if I may use it for the red area.

A mathematician, a biologist and a physicist are sitting in a street cafe watching people going in and coming out of the house on the other side of the street.

First they see two people going into the house. Time passes. After a while they notice three persons coming out of the house.

The physicist: "The measurement wasn't accurate."
The biologists: "They have reproduced".
The mathematician: "If now exactly one person enters the house then it will be empty again."

I like it, it kind of looks like a pretty sunset. That spider is going to be trouble, I can see that already.

Don't think so. Just wait till the spider goes up again. The toughest stuff in the startingroom is IMO the jump to the most right sinking platform.

Hey Toybox, that was a very good one!! You were the maths-man? ;)

Story so far.

The mansion has a final name, which ... I have to keep secret. :P The name contains a hint and I can't spoil any playing fun. Isn't it?  ;D However, the acronym is ATo1C.

Meanwhile the first, red section is more or less ready. This is the first time in my 'building career' that the designing seems to be much tougher than playing. Main problem is to avoid the interference between all the doorspuzzles. Something Jack does NOT need to think about! ;)

Here is a new teaser. A good time to start sweating ... ;D

Nice to volunteer, rose! :) But I really haven't enough yet for any betatester.

A Tale of One City will soon be released ... in shifts. Part one (red) is almost ready and the second part (green) is under maintenance.

Lucky you. There seems to be at least one saving spot in this close-to-game-over-mansion.
