Title: A Tale of One City - Version 1.0 released
Post by Freddy on 17.08.2008 at 20:09:16
My newest mansion will be released in sections. Just like our Catacombs.

So, version 1.0 only contains the first 'red' area.

I am not pleased with 2 of my own created backgrounds. But I didn't want to wait any longer with the release. Somewhere in future those backgrounds will be replaced by new ones. But that will not change play at all. Anyway, please apologize me.

Be aware of the difficulty: close to 'game over'. 8-)

I played this for about twenty minutes earlier - where do I go?!?! :D

Well, euh ... how about finding the 3 red keys to take down the pole? ;)

Hey, Lara. There are cracked brick hints in the starting room. And there is even more!!

I'm sure I'll figure it out. I really want to complete Underground Fortress though, I like focusing on one mansion at a time. :)

"close to game over" is right! :o But as usual, this is a Freddy-mansion par excellence!  ;D

Thanks Freddy for some wonderful play-time ::)  and no, I'm not even close to figuring it all out - YET! :-/  8-)

As usual, Freddy, a wonderful mansion of yours...... with lots of great puzzles and nerve-wracking obstacles.

However, there's one thing I wish you wouldn't always do:  you always put so little money in those very hard mansion of yours (and so few save pedestals) that every player (whose name is not Freddy) is forced to start again and again....before he makes it to the first save for the first time.

Why can't you be a little more gracious/generous (when it comes to handing out a few coins).
A silver coin here and there doesn't help me very much....   :'(   :-[   ::)  :-/

But what a great mansion..... !!

Room 16096, I came down the pole with no keys [since I hadn't changed the blocks to gold so I couldn't get the yellow/purple keys in 16297 and thus couldn't get into the doors in 16296]
I wasted one purple key in there, so I couldn't get out through 16097 since there was no way (?) of getting back up
Got all red though :)

Hey What do you mean look up......I got the two keys up top in the main rm, after using one of them to open the top left red door, I have one left.  Where are the other two.  I have been all over the three rooms and can't find them anywhere.

Up = Top

That's because I had my head upside down... 16296 should be 15896, 16297 is 15897

Olle,

You can still get out.
There is a second purple key in 16096.

Hi Spiak

Thank You Spiak, for taking the time to help me out.....I was trying to grab the wrong one......I DON'T HAVE MY GLASSES ON AND COULD NOT SEE THE HIDDEN ONE.....!!!!

This mansion is great fun! I'm doing it well enough to get to the room with the lava and the very fast moving bricks with a couple of lives left.

I'm working on my keys though. I couldn't get the yellow and purple key in the room above without going through the two rooms on the left and going down the pole. Currently I only have one purple key so can't get right and back into an earlier room.

If this is all gobbley-di-gook I apologise, but I'm having fun so yay! :)

I'm doing fine until I get BACK to 15097 with only ONE purple key (when I need 2)... have looked and looked :-/ for another one, with no luck! :'(

HELP?  :-[

Title: Re: Version 1.0 released
Post by suztours on 20.08.2008 at 08:58:45
Yeah - I found all those, but they were for different doors... I need another key to open the second door in 15097 (coming in from the left)... on my way back to the beginning to open the three red doors and go down to save...

Missy - I got the two purple keys - please don't send PMs with "hints" - Freddy made an excellent mansion which we all should figure out - whatever hints he gives will make me (and you and all) look for the answer, making playing the mansion much more fun.

I know, got it but I wasted it on a hidden purple door by jumping, that's why I think it's a JS...

otherwise it was a great mansion so far and I'm looking forward to the green "under construction"-part :D

only got 50% secrets though, but I guess I could do it all again :D

Sorry suztours

I'm sorry, I misunderstood your plea for help.  I will never PM you again.

Title: Re: Version 1.0 released
Post by suztours on 20.08.2008 at 19:48:24
Missy - I didn't mean to NEVER PM me :o, but for anyone to give hints that way defeats the idea of working on the mansion to figure out the puzzles and mazes and whatevers by oneself...  :-/

Usually, the person who makes the mansion may give a tiny hint (a few words to point towards a result, but not a solution) to the person who asks, but in a light color so as not to disturb those that don't want to know... and it's posted that way on the forum!

In fact, if you read Freddy's other thread related to this mansion, you'll see that HE made a design mistake :o vis-a-vis the purple keys & doors, which is what I thought and said to him on the forum in my short message about it.  He noticed the problem and will fix it this coming weekend, when he has time to do that!

I don't want to sound like I'm lecturing anyone on the forum, but we all need to take care and remember that this is a GAME for our enjoyment - and much of that enjoyment is derived from our chats on the forum, but NOT so much in giving away solutions - after all, why have the custom mansions and all the new design and puzzle ideas if our purpose is just to get to the exit door!  My purpose is to relax and enjoy 8-) and sometimes (if I finished a tour with particularly difficult tourists), I actually laugh if I kill Jack a few times (but thankfully, Jack doesn't mind and just keeps reinventing himself for my use  ;))!

Thanks to Freddy for the mansion fix. Yay!

So I got my two purple keys and got back to the rest of the mansion - BUT I wasn't able to get the yellow and purple keys in the lava/fast moving platform room. So my question is...

Is there a way to get these two keys and get into that room if the silver/gold levers are set to gold? How can you get across the silver block bridge gap in the room below without the lever being set to silver?

And I liked the two hidden money bags in the lava/fasting moving platform Freddy - rock! But help!  8-)

@ Lara:

Thx for having played/tested version 1.1 yet. I hope you liked my solution.

To answer your two questions: I suggest to revisit the fast moving platforms room again. 8-) Yes! That is a hint! :o ;)

I would like to point out, because of aquaMat's comment on the few coins that Freddy is giving away, that the difficulty of this mansion is "close to game over".  Hence the few coins.

I seem to have the same question as previous folks but I can't find the darn purple key in 16096, the second one. Do I need to come down the pole with the purple and yellow keys from the fast moving platform room, or do I find a second key in 16096? If so, please a hint as to where, I am stuck (but I do have 3 red keys).

Thanks Freddy!
Nancy

That's because the minute you write something down, you tap into what's known as "Telepathy"

Yo, I've figured out all the secrets but am still working on getting everything done and not getting killed too much. The first really fast moving platform in the lava room is killing me too much at the moment, but i'm working on it!!! :D.

And I'm getting a perfect score in all the rooms up until the room above too - yay!!!

I haven't completed it yet...

I've got through the two purple doors with the spider, but I haven't figured out how to get off the ledge a room to the right of that without getting killed...

More news in the future... :)

I finally managed to finish this mansion.
It - was - tough !!!!!!!

But thanks, Freddy for another challenging, inovative mansion.
Expecially I liked the room 16069. Wow!!!

I finished with 70% secrets. I'm sure I missed some secret ladders to find treasures, since this seems to be one of your favourite ways to keep secrets  ;)

My only critizism, like aquaMat already mentioned: please put some more coins here and there so the player can gain one more life here and there. This woud increase the fun playing immensley.

greetings

And again I point out that the difficulty degree of this mansion is "close to game over" as the author put it.  Hence no more coins  ;)
