Title: "Stayin Alive"
Post by sherryl199 on 23.10.2008 at 10:30:37
There was an AP article in our local paper about doing CPR to the tune of "Stayin Alive". When you perform CPR you're supposed to compress the heart at 100 beats per minute. "Stayin Alive" is 103 beats per minute. Doctors, med students, CPR trainess all did CPR correctly while that song was playing in the background. The study was done at U of Illinois Med school. Lots more info on the internet. Something to sing about.

I don't have the slightest idea what CPR is....

...but it surprises me to hear that "Stayin' Alive" is 103 bpm. My guess would have been much closer to 120 bpm, the standard "disco" tempo.

According to www.urbandictionary.com CPR is Cardiopulmonary resuscitation - basic life support. (Of course you can use www.acronymfinder.com for acronyms, but urbandictionary seems to help for all sorts of expresssions.)
