Title: 10 latest posts
Post by Olle the Greatest on 05.11.2008 at 04:19:36
I really liked the link to the 10 latest posts on the forum, but that function seems to have disappeared?
It was very useful, saved a lot of scrolling time...

will it ever return?

It's still there, Olle.  That's how I found your post.   ;)

Hi Ollie,

I know, I am missing it too !!!

It is still available, just one more click away than before.  Just go down to the bottom right of the screen, where it says "Forum Issues" and pick '10 Latest Posts'.
:D

Take Care,

Although 10 recent postings are often not enough...

You can use:
http://www.actionsoft.com/forums/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=recent;display=30
instead (it shows 30 of them, that works well enough for me). I think you can show up to 100 if you prefer.

I'm afraid that otherwise some postings get 'lost' - viewers don't notice them and they go unanswered, which is a shame really.

Toybox is absolutely right !

In the beginnings of this forum site I always used "show 10 last postings" but since I have found it out ** (about a year or so ago), I use this function to show me the last 30 posts....and that way I almost never miss anything new !!
I have created a "shortcut link" with a bookmark in my Safari window strip, and everytime I go online the first thing I do is hit that link and in a matter of seconds I see the latest 30 posts.

Very handy......   ;)

**  BTW, I say "found it out"....but if I remember correctly it might well have been Toybox who told me that back then.  ;)   8-)

To Toybox,

How do I find this "last 30 posts" on the forum?  Where do I go and what do I click if I do not use the link you posted?   [smiley=undecided.gif]

I am on another YaBB forum that has over 3,000 members  (Horse related of course, with many new posts each day), and would love to find this feature !    :)

Thanks,

SandyBean [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Dear Sandybean, please take a close look at Toybox's path:

http://www.actionsoft.com/forums/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=recent;display=30

Now, let's say that the forum you are referring to has the possibility to show the last 10 posts, like we do.  Then all you have to do is change "10" to"30" in the path window and press return.

Of course the path could be different but somewhere it should stte the number of recent posts.

Hope this helps.

Good Evening Brell, (Mornin for Me in Canada !!!)

Thanks so much !  I tried it on the Horse Council of BC Forum and it worked like a charm !    [smiley=dankk2.gif]

I thought it was something I had to find inside the forum choices, not knowing I could go up and change things in the address window at the top of my screen!

You guys are Great !   8-)

Thanks,

SandyBean   [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
