Dear friends,

my latest mansion, named "Les Catacombes Rouges" (I felt a bit francophile lately), is growing and growing. It has already become several "storeys" deeper down than orginally anticipated.....and is having already 127 rooms or so.

Therefore you'll understand, I hope, that its release will be delayed. (Also I'm having a hard time with a complicated remix at the moment....so I can't build as often as I'd love to. Usually I find at least 1 or 2 hours for MM-design late at night, though.)

So....don't lose faith.... LCR will come, eventually, and as soon as I can, I might make an overview screenshot to post here....   8-)    ;)

Once more I had a complete breakdown of my Internet connection, due to some problem at my provider's technical center (Deutsche Telekom)....  so I have been unable to go online for about 6 days or so.

On the other hand, that gave me a bit more time to work on LCR.....and I can now report that I'm getting close to the final room.

I had to decide if I wanted to go down yet another storey, another row of rooms, or if I let it end on this level.....and I decided for the latter approach.

It has still a lot of unsolved issues, like surplus keys etc., and I'll have to re-check many rooms.....BUT:  we're getting there !!   8-)    ;)

Can't wait!

below I show you a teaser for Les Catacombes Rouges, which is now being refined and then beta-tested.

On the overview screenshot you can see about 2/3 of the whole system, I didn't want to give away too much, too soon.......   8-)

As an added "bonbon" I show you one room in detail. In this screenshot you can see (in the upper middle of the image), what I call a "Docking Station" (that little "scooter-like" stone & wood - construction, with the green color brick in the middle).

In the central area of LCR, several of  these "docking stations" appear, usually color-coded.  
They are always worth visiting.....  Keep that in mind for later.....   ;)

Hi everybody....

this is to inform you that beta-testing of "Les Catacombes Rouges", my latest mansion, is nearly terminated. Thanks to the incredible effort - and time - of Rose and Semi-Native, who are such a great help !

I guess I will be putting in the last "finishing touches" during the next week and then I'm sending it to the admins.

BTW, until very reecently I had completely forgotten that we have this shared mansion which is called "Catacombs" too......while writing the BBBs for LCR I had asked Semi-Native if there was an equivalent word for "les catacombes" in English, can you believe it ???

She reminded me of our "Catacombs" mansion....so I thought maybe I should rename my mansion ??!

What do you think???

Is "Les Catacombes Rouges" unique and different enough (from "Catacombs") ?

Well, 'Les Catacombes' is a very well-established Parisian attraction. Seeing that you use the French term instead of the English one I immediately thought of them and not of our glorious collaborative mansion.

That being said, it probably helps that I am French  ;)

If you like, you can replace it by the more official: L'Ossuaire Rouge.

(According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catacombs_of_Paris the official name for the catacombs is l'Ossuaire Municipal. I didn't know that!)

Looks like the beautiful yet unique style of aquaMat's! Keep on going! ;D

"Les Catacombes Rouges" is unique on it's own. I don't think you need to rename your mansion.

@ Toybox:  I was indeed thinking about the Paris catacombs when I designed + named it. I used the French name to make that connection clear.
I had once visited them, when I was about 16 years old, and I'll never forget that.
I always found it a rather intriguing thought.... that there is a huge city which has a whole system, almost like a maze, of underground catacombs.....  I was always a fan of secret passageways, labyrynths and all that..... that's why they feature so prominently in my mansions.

And even if my catacombs-system is going much deeper down than the real Catacombes, and you only have one small house instead of a whole city above it, I thought it was an appropriate name.

And yes....maybe it was because of the French spelling that I, too, never made the connection with our Catacombs-mansion.  8-)

aquaMat, you'd love working at Disney World, then. There is a huge system of tunnels underneath the parks that employees use for getting around, storage, moving equipment, etc. Most visitors are totally unaware that they exist.

I remember in the town I grew up in, which had a big university, there was an area for the "university hospital", actually several medical facilities and hospitals almost like a little district in itself.... and there it was the same, but it actually has a whole system of underground streets !!

They are for the maintenance people but also for medical transports to drive as fast as possible between the different hospitals.
Fascinated me as a kid.....

I worked at Disney World for a year when I first moved to Orlando in the late 70's, that's how I know. I didn't work in the park, though, I had an office job. Regular office hours and days, which was nice.

If you have played Monkey Island 2, you should at least suspect it  :D

I have heard also of some large underground bits in Edinburgh and in Seattle. Those in Seattle are visitable, too (that and a statue of Lenin  ;))

Toybox, I LOVE the Monkey Island games. It ticks me off that they never made Curse of Monkey Island for the Mac. And I wish they'd make a new one.

Thanks for the links, but unfortunately these games have to be played in the Classic environment, they're so old. Also, Monkey Island 4 is the same as Escape from Monkey Island.
