Title: THE COMPLEX:  Another aquaMat mansion coming soon
Post by aquaMat on 25.05.2009 at 21:47:57
Dear friends,

I like to announce that Rose and myself are currently beta-testing my latest creation. During design and testing it used to have the working title "Matt's Maze", but I plan to release it very soon under the official name of

                                             THE COMPLEX

It is no "real maze" but it is in fact a huge complex of aisles, corridors, tubes and shafts where it is very easy to get lost in.
It also has my usual share of "secret passages" etc., but I consider it to be a little easier than my last few mansions.

What's great about it (I hope): after a pretty linear beginning (on icy mountains) Jack is headin' underground into The Complex, where the player can pretty much decide freely where he wants to go next.

There are "many roads leading to Rome" so to speak, and even the order of the save pedestals is not necessarily fixed.

At times it gets linear again (without really noticing it the player is softly "guided" towards a certain direction, after all) and of course especially near the end.
However, it should provide fun for repeated plays (as I always intend my mansions to do), 'cause there are several hidden things or rooms etc. which probably won't be discovered the first time through.

Another feature that make repeated plays interesting is the fact that every game will be a bit different, as noted above.

There will be more than enough save points and a bit more money as usual to avoid frustration.

Look forward....it won't be long anymore (at least not on my side)...we're currently testing version 0.9.x !

PS: Thanks to Rose for her invaluable help in beta-testing.

That looks like its gonna be fun!  :D

I wish I could proclaim some good news about my two new mansions, but due to heavy studying I wont be able to resume work until late June. :-/

Hi aquaMat,

I am sooooo looking forward to another one of your mansions!  They are always great with some hard to find escape passages, new tricks for my Jack to learn, and wonderful, creative graphics!

Thanks so much to You aquaMat, and Your creative genius, and also to Rose for beta testing.

My Jack says;  "Yahoo" to You for making us a new playground.   [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

Although me and Jack are still getting a 'stress relief' from OTG's "Torture Chambers" (Luris).......... and I know you guys wonder how this could be, but you don't know how truly Stressful my real 'work day' stuff is!!!!

Thanks so much, and keep up the fantastic stuff we and Jack both  thrive on,

SandyBean [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Wow. Thank you all for those nice, encouraging words !
Makes me very happy !   :)

BTW: Rose just pointed out that I might be giving away a bit too much with this sreenshot, as it possibly spoils some of the surprises (at least for those who study that shot thoroughly and then manage to remember all the details until the official release !  ;))

But I doubt that there are too many of you now sitting with a magnifying glass in front of the screen ?!

However, I might replace the screenshot with a less revealing one, later today !

One year I spoiled my own Christmas by snooping into the presents my parents bought. It was the worst Christmas ever- I wasn't getting what I "ordered" AND I knew about it. The gifts weren't bad, just not my first choice (which was probably a pony  ;D )

The moral of that story, Grasshoppers? Sometimes the surprize is part of the fun  ;)  :)

You're absolutely right !!

Strangely, one of 2 Christmases of my childhood that I remember is the one where I did a similar thing. I couldn't sleep and went "snooping" and discovered that they'd got me a "Experience Chemistry Box" (which is something like those "Little Electrician Labs" only for chemical stuff).

I don't remember much....only that my mother caught me in the wee hours of the morning while I was actually conducting my first chemical experiments. That was very embarrassing and I felt like Bart Simpson in the episode where he burns the Xmas-tree and all the presents with it...!  (Except that Bart didn't exist then! He wasn't even born!!)  ;)

Morals: please don't look too closely at my screenshot!  I didn't yet have the time to replace it with a less revealing one.
(Besides, I fear the damage's already done, anyway !?)

Me and Jack can't wait to 'get lost' in The Complex, nothing quite like an aquaMat mansion to help one forget about the woes of the world, and have fun in a colourful, sneaky, over the top kinda place!   ;)

Really looking forward to it!   :D

thanks,

SandyBean [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Thank you very much, SandyBean, for the nice compliments !  :-[

As far as I am concerned it's only a matter of days until we can release it..... although I don't know how much time Brell and/or Freddy will need, so I can't give you an exact date.

Stay tuned.

Ya, Ya,  you and your 'RUMPLEBERRYSAUCE' can just go 'twitstery in the windy dity' !   HA   :P [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=happy.gif]  let's see if you can figure that one out Wingy, being from New Brunswick and all !!!    ;)

Me and Jack......(ooops, pardon)........."Jack and I", will still be very much waiting to 'get lost' just about anywhere!

Take care all !

Yo I'm only like 12 in real life. How am I meant to know?  :o

K, I'm not 12 but I'm young.

OK Wingy, I KNOW you are not 12, but you are young, and still very wise beyond your years with the fabulous mansions you have built.   :D

Still wondering though, what "Rumpleberrysauce" means, it is a New Brunswickian term????  ~ LOL   ::)

Once we all know what it means, it may one day show up in a mansion's BB ?

take care, and keep laughing!

Complete definition:

The term Rumple (rum•ple) |ˈrəmpəl| (rumpled)
to give a creae, ruffled, or a dishelveled appearance to

Origin: Early 16th Century, from the Middle Dutch word rompel.

Now a berry is a plain noun. Sauce is an adjective describing a noun.

Now when you get down to it, it means the sauce of a rumpled berry, which I used in a exclamatory way meaning the obligatory sense of a metaphor. Or I could just say you rumpled my feelings of the sauce that works in my head making my brain alive, making myself very surprised.

Or something like that.

WoW   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]  Wingy !!!

Holy SUGARGUMPOTS is your mastery of the English language ever awesome !!!   Nice to see young folk who can express themselves so eloquently !

(BTW: You might be able to figure out what that one means, I have used it for years, but never knew it's origins!)

Not wanting to completely hijack this thread on aquaMat's latest creation, just having some fun!   "Jack and I" are still very much looking forward to its release.

take care all, and thanks for the fun Wingy!

Ahem....?!
Sauce is an adjective ????
What does that make of  "apple sauce" or "horseradish sauce" then ?
Just because "apple" is a noun it doesn't make "sauce" an adjective, does it?

No adjective in either of the terms above....as far as I'm concerned !

I might have slept thru a fair share of my school days but some things I feel I DO remember.......  ;)
