Title: Jack stuck?
Post by Semi-Native on 29.01.2010 at 03:14:52
Please see the attached screen shot. Jack can't find his way out of where he is. Am I missing something?

Thanks. This mansion has a lot of surprises! Loving it.

how did you get there if you can't get out? The only possible way should be to go back the way you came, considering the state of the room. How else did you get in there if not from the right of where you're standing right now?

It seems you managed to avoid pulling a lever, I thought levers were impossible to resist, should have made the lever do things one of the floor switches does to avoid this :)

Strange, I actually remade this room to avoid this situation :)

Fixed it, sent an update to the admins

Jack jumped in there somehow, from the right when he got to the top of the ladder.

I'm an admin now, too, and I uploaded your mansion, so you could have sent it directly to me. Just for future reference.

it's not hard to jump in there from the right, but you can't get further without pulling the lever

and now it seems too late for that :)

I sent the update to you too, then

I quote myself:

"Never ever assume that the player will play your mansion in the way you intended.  If there is a strange/stupid/whatever play that a player can do be sure that someone eventually will make that play. Remember that the player cannot know beforehand that the play will lead to JS or cd."

We had a JS in this room during beta, but this other one seems to have slipped through :)

your quote is always worth mentioning :)

Olle, sorry to tell you this, but once again, Jack got stuck in the very same spot. This time, he came down from above and fell into the same area. Since he hadn't been to the area where he could pull that lever yet, once again he's stuck.

I think the problem lies in the fact that when Jack falls, instead of dying, a lot of times he ends up sliding down a pole, and ends up in an area that you hadn't intended.

Maybe the solution is doing away with having to pull that lever to get out of there?

but now you really have to tell me how you managed to fall all the way down there and not die?

please describe the situation, since I cannot make him fall from above, nor the side, into that spot... without dying trying

This mansion is made to be exactly as you describe, if he falls he is supposed to survive and be able to explore something else, or need to go back to try again

but not survive when falling to his death, as this should be

I didn't want to say exactly how Jack got there because I didn't want to give away anything, so I'll PM you.

My poor Jack is stuck in there too !!!  And with the updated version.

He did go into this room earlier from the right, step on the two floor switches (one is for a door, the other for a footstool so Jack can climb up out of that horrid box on the far left), and pull the lever which is for the zapper beam to the left of the spider.

Seems to my Jack, the problem is if you leave the room (which you have to do to get into that box on the left), the footstool switch reverts to off.

Hope that helps get the problem solved, this mansion has been fun to explore, and frustrating at the same time, since Jack can't seem to end up where he intended !!!  :D

Thanks so much,

luckily enough, the latest update hasn't been published, so I'll fix this one too (I forgot while changing the action of the switches...)

And.... finished!

Jack died a whole lot of deaths getting there, but he finally made it. A very frustrating mansion, but loads of fun. Thanks, Olle.

congrats! :)

seems like you missed 1500 in gold though, even if you got all the secrets ;)

Jack had to spend the $1500 on bandages and emergency room visits.

Well, my Jack is still trying to recover from this mansion, but no matter how many hard knocks he took, I truly enjoyed it !!!

Although we forfeited some of the gold in order to spare lives, we were sooooo saddened when we finally reached all those bags of money in room 15899, we thought we would be set for life........ like winning the Lotto, but alas, only a moderate number of lives were given back to my poor beaten and run down Jack.

Absolutely great mansion, OTG, just enough good stuff with the right balance of frustration to keep us coming back to try and solve your wicked puzzles.

Can't wait for the next OTG adventure, my Jack is now recuperating, and will be ready soon for what ever you want to throw our way !!!

Thanks so much,

SandyBean  [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
