Title: JS in room 19106?
Post by Olle the Greatest on 14.08.2010 at 06:17:04
Jack is currently hiding behind the pole, but I see no way out of there... He came in from the left behind the hanging skeleton, but can't get back up there and not down anywhere either

Hi, OtG, haven't seen you around lately. Nice to see you're still here. Working on any mansions?

Love your desktop photo!

nope, not actively working on any mansion, since MM2 is soon to be released... :)

The desktop pic is one of those that come with the OS

Too bad you couldn't help me in my JS... guess I'll replay from second last save (think I missed a secret or two anyway)

Olle, I just tried this in the mansion level builder - you must have jumped over that gray door, right? Yeah, that does seem to be a JS.

indeed I did jump over that &%"€# door... Won't do it again though

I think I found another JS also in another room but it wasn't a real one.
I could die and then move on, but I personally don't like dying... :D

Well.... any Jack-stucks that have come about by a player's "non-standard behaviour" (= jumping over closed doors etc.) really don't count as JS in my book.

If played "normally" (= according to the rules) this room will not create a JS-situation, no matter how hard you try.

So, in this case, I'm afraid, yes....you'll have to restart from your last save.

PS: It will please you, however, that I have just now redesigned the area above the grey door in question, so that it will no longer be possible to jump over it. The fact that it WAS possible until now, BTW, wasn't an oversight or design error of myself, but was due to that old "jumping-over-certain-closed-doors-is possible" - bug of the classic MM.  I had to reinforce the area above the door with double layer-4 bricks to stop it being possible.
(Will be in the next update of BFAP.)

A JS caused by "non-standard behavour" by a player is indeed a JS because there are actually no rules of what counts as normal play.  There is no "politically" correct or incorrect play in this game.  If a player can create a JS situation it IS a JS situation regardless of the builders opinion or intention.  You, aquaMat, are the only builder I know of that doesn't accept this.

I did play it normally... I jumped all over the place to find secret coins and passages :) [especially aquamat-mansions require a lot of random jumping to find all the coins...]
