Title: Pling sound when changing rooms
Post by rose on 05.09.2010 at 13:10:44
Hi!
Great to get a new mansion from Matt and Joe!

I get a pling sound when changing rooms. Why is that?

Did you swap the graphics and sprites files?

No, I didn't! I am waiting for the version that one doesn't have to swap anything, like some in MM1.  :)  I find it to much of a hassle to swap back and forth.

It doesn't make a sound in every room though. I just found out that entering room 16703 doesn't pling!

I have in MM1 played custom mansions without changing to new graphics and they didn't make any protesting pling sound.

I think that only works for background and music, not graphics and sprites.

No, I don't agree. I have played Dominator without changing the to the custom sprites etc. and it didn't pling at all.

I have played on in Ghosthunter and it seems that is is mostly in the beginning where there are are black background parts in the rooms where it makes pling sounds.

I just finished the mansion without switching the sprites and graphics files. rose, I got that sound throughout the game at various spots, but the game didn't crash or anything.

Fun mansion.

Semi-Nativ, good to hear it isn't just on my machine there are these sounds.

Rose, the designer can only put Sprites, backgrounds and music in folders so the player doesn't have to switch the data files around. If there are graphics and/or sound files that need switching, you must switch them on your own because there will never be a version where you don't have to.

Anthony, the mansion doesn't work when switching the graphics and sprites. I get an error message.

I also get the sound going from room to room (most of the time) - with the original MM sprites and graphics. I can't use the Ghosthunter set because of an error message. It's the sound a key makes when an action cannot be taken - if that makes sense!

Does anyone have any idea what happened with this mansion? Are the designers still involved with MM? If not, maybe this mansion should be eliminated or, perhaps, someone can fix these problems?

Joe will be back as far as I know.  I have sent him the complaints but he has not answered.  He is still involved as he was one of the MM2 testers.  I do not know how to fix the pling sound problems but I could upload a new version where the cheap death situations are fixed.  I'll try to contact Joe once more to get his approval.

Another point:  We have a lot of custom mansions made by people that are not involved with MM anymore.  I don't see that as a reason to remove those mansions.
