Title: The Great Escape easy - Jack stuck
Post by Freddy on 23.11.2011 at 04:37:28
On the first attached image you can see that my Jack forgot to take 2 purple keys to open the 2 clearly visible purple doors. So therefor he went back down via the left wing.

When he arrived in room 17102 he couldn't continue further to the right because the zapper beam rhythm on the bottom floor did change since his first visit over there.

And on his way back up again, he got stuck in room 16900 because even in HD he can't climb poles. ;) See the last attachment.

Hmm.... I thought this had been reported in the beta testing process, at least the possible JS situation in room 17102.

I have played ti many times during the test but tried it again this morning and I did not  encounter your Jacks problem. Nor should you have to go back to get the purple keys. They are in closer quarters to the door as you see in the map view.

Btw, wasn't The Great Escape not a custom mansion in an earlier life? By Toybox? :-/

Yes, he did an all-new Easy version for MM HD, and polished up Normal and Hard to be more in conformity with built-in mansions.

By the way Freddy, we are trying to switch over to using .jpegs now for posted screenshots... they load a lot faster, and take up less server space. :-) I think it's an easy setting to change the default format for screenshots.

I will keep that in mind. And although not active again as admin, I remember that the admins are able to force members to use jpg, by forbidding png.

Okay. Back to topic. Enclosed is jpeg :) from room 17102 with Jack leaving that room in the upper right corner. At that time the zapper beam in the lower left corner has a rhythm that makes re-entering in that corner impossible in my opinion.

Freddy, why do you want to reenter the left bottom corner??? You can easily do it. Use the levers.

When I played TGE easy I encountered the same situation.  It was not possible to reset the levers to turn off the bottom left zapper beam.  This was posted during the testing period if I remember correctly.

I tried it before I answered. I did not have any problem.

It is not a matter of why. My Jack - who is much smarter than I am ;) - doesn't have any reason to do that ever again. Especially since he knows that it is not possible.

But, because sooner or later other Jacks may encounter the same problem, I only wanted to report this issue. And truly believe that a repair is needed.

Well, my Jack didn't have any problem by using the levers. He could walk back and forth as he liked.

Then it was fixed - up to a point.  Jack has to turn off the bottom left zapper beam if he wants to re-enter the room from the left.

Jack has to first pull the lever to the left on the middle floor. Then go down to the bottom floor to the right and now he can pull the right lever and move to the left. And then pull the left bottom lever, and he is on the bottom left side!

Yes, Rose.  We all know that.  Take a look at Freddy's picture where Jack is standing at the bottom left.  The zapper beam is on and Jack forgot to pull the levers as you describe.  He cannot turn that zapper off and he cannot go back.  Jack-stuck.

I am not answering to that image. I am answering to the one hwereJack is standing up to the right! I can't fantom how Jack got to the bottom right position in the first image with the zapper beams.

I added a switch underneath the money bag which switches off all zappers in the room. I think this is a reasonable fix in an easy mansion.

Sorry if I missed (or misunderstood) the issue the first time it had been reported!

The pole mismatch is fixed too  ;)

Although the fix only works if Jack takes the money before going all the way to the bottom left corner of the room, so technically, it could still result in a Jack Stuck, if the player snubs that easy money on the first visit.

Diane, how did you manage that one?  I'm sure that Toybox didn't foresee that one  ;D

I have done it several times and also in other places where I hop on brown bricks along the wall. I go up and up and eventually am stuck. I realized no one else seems to travel this way so thought I would mention it.

Oh, we do when we test mansions but we don't find every possible problem.  :D

Oh yes, I will fix that later this week. Jagged walls look good, but they're a great source of Jack Stucks  ;D
