Title: Known problems -- and their solutions
Post by VernJensen on 22.01.2012 at 12:24:24
I want to list some known issues that people sometimes run into, and the solution to them.

1) The game tries to start up (icon bounces) but then it just quits.

This problem exists in the original 1.0.0 version when you start up a newer version of the game (either Episode 1 or Episode 2), causing the 1.0.0 version to be unable to launch.

The solution is to upgrade the 1.0.0 version to the latest version available.

2) When you try to open a saved game in the Mac App Store version of the game, it says you must register before you can open a saved game in that mansion.

This is a bug in the 1.0.2 version of the Mac App Store version of the game. I will try to fix this soon.

In the mean time, you can download the ActionSoft version of Midnight Mansion HD (click on Free Demo), and it should run fully unlocked if you have played both Episode 1 and 2 from the Mac App Store. This might not always work in the future, but it certainly will for now, until I can fix the bug above and submit it to Apple.

3) Episodes 1 and 2 are no longer "linked" for the Mac App Store version.

Apple required me to separate them. I tried to reason with them, but they would not approve any bug-fixing updates to the game until I completely separated the two episodes.

Again though, a solution for now is to download the ActionSoft version of Midnight Mansion HD, which will run unlocked as long as you have launched purchased versions of both Episode 1 and 2 on that computer. This may not work on future versions of OS X once "sandboxing" is introduced, but it will work for now.
