When I try to play a custom mansion the game says it isn't in the HD format. I unzip the files in the mansion but there is no icon for the game itself. Help!

Are your custom mansions in a folder called Midnight Mansion HD Custom Mansions? If so, you just click on the folder of the cm you want to play, you don't go inside it.
