Title: Happy Early 10th Birthday Jack Malone!
Post by Leon on 01.01.2015 at 07:47:19
You may think 10 years old is a tad young for an intrepid treasure hunter like Jack Malone, but it's true, his 10th Birthday is coming up... or at least his 10th Birthday of raiding beautiful mansions and other territories just to grab his mitts on some fancy treasure.

Over the past ten years, Jack has been stuck plenty of times in various mansions over two and a half games. But that not all, the community has been the source of many amazing mansion not included in the original packages.

I still remember when I first discovered Midnight Mansion 8 years ago, I was browsing the late downloads site on the Apple website and when I found MM, I was instantly in love, especially the mansion builder. I remember begging my dad to purchase the licence... back in the day when it was easier to convince my parents to buy me a game lol... and I would spend ages attempting to create mansions with my dad's old powerbook G4 and its broken hinge (I had to lie on my bedroom floor and place the lid by the wall to stop it falling)... unfortunately only a couple of these mansions saw release on the forums. It's amazing, I started playing the game when I first started High School and I am still playing it and about to finish college!

So come February 4th 2015 (?), Happy 10th Birthday to Midnight Mansion, thank you to Vern and team for creating the game, thank you to the staff members for maintaining the forum, and thank you player for creating the wonderful mansions.

What MM memories do you have to share?

Leon

I started playing MM about when the version came out or there about. I passed my 60th birthday last summer and I am still playing MM! I have beta tested quite a few of the custom mansions. I still enjoy playing and my fingers are getting quicker playing. What was difficult at the beginning is now much easier.

Wow, already! Time flies, huh?

Leon- that's a great story about the broken Powerbook lol.

I think I found MM on a random search for games at whatever macupdate used to be called. The pics looked cool, so what the heck? I didn't love it at first, but by the end of a couple mansions- Best Under $20 Game Purchase Evar!

Thank you Vern and crew for the countless hours of entertainment, and to everyone here at the forum keeping it going. True love never dies  [smiley=evil.gif]

Happy Birthday Jack  [smiley=birthdays.gif]

I just looked at my profile, and I joined the forum on December 22, 2006. Wow, time flies when you're having fun. I think I found MM in the Apple downloads, too. I loved it from the beginning, especially because of the level builder and all the custom mansions. I haven't found any game that even comes close to all the enjoyment I've gotten out of MM1 and MM2.

Wow !  Happy Birthday Jack Malone, and thank you Vern and all you MM'ers who have kept this game and forum going and thriving....the best ever game I've found !  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Checking back seems I joined the forums in July, 2007, but I know I was long hooked on the game before that ! I was downloading and playing the custom mansions for a while before I worked up the nerve to join the forum, and even longer before I tried my hand at building... should have done it much sooner, what a great online community ~

It's simply amazing and unheard of to see a game that speaks to so many age groups and diverse people ....Jack Malone and his Midnight Mansion is truly a Masterpiece.

So Hat's Off and Congrats !   and Many Thanks,
SandyBean  [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
PS: now Jack and I are off to play a wee little new game I heard was made !    [smiley=dankk2.gif]

It's been amazing. If only MM2:The Haunted Hills was upgraded by anyone so those with upgraded system past Lion could play. *sigh* A girl can dream

If you have the money, you could get a VM software and Snow Leopard Server

Here's one I used a trial of which worked really well (though I did have to change a couple settings for certain things to work, though that is pretty simple) http://store.vmware.com/store/vmwde/en_GB/DisplayProductDetailsPage/ThemeID.29219600/productID.304752300?src=eBIZ_PaidSearch_Fusion_Upgrade_ProductPage_UK&mkwid=sOFiHv1Ff&pcrid=70786828503&kw=vmware%20fusion&mt=p&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=vmware%20fusion&utm_content=70786828503&utm_campaign=GS_eBiz_EMEA_UK_EN_P_BPD_Fusion&gclid=CK_wiP_y_MQCFSYYwwodY6IAHw

Note that you HAVE to use Snow Leopard SERVER and not CLIENT (or whatever the regular version is called). Try calling up Apple to see if you can purchase a copy, if not, there are several being sold on places like eBay

Yes, this is possible with the Mac OS X server software, but not the regular OSes.

He's doing well, I see him posting on Facebook here and there. He has been working as a software engineer for the past couple years.

That's pretty neat.
I wonder if he will ever revisit MM when he gets some free time (if he gets some free time)

BTW, happy new year!
