The forums is run by three administrators. Read here who they are and what you may (and may not) expect from them.

Actionsoft's latest game, Midnight Mansion 2: The Haunted Hills,  includes 28 mansions. The 8 Built-in mansions have 3 difficulties along with 4 extra custom mansions. We don't have that many other custom MM2 mansions yet. Design your own custom mansion! Info below.  You can find out more about the game here.

The original Midnight Mansion game contains over 150 mansions. The 8 included mansions which have 3 difficulty levels each, and about 115 approved custom mansions which you can download here and also several freely uploaded mansions. To know the difference between these three types of mansions, click here.

Are you a creative person and thinking of designing a mansion yourself? Or want to know about how to upload it? Click here and we'll show you! You'll find guidelines for betatesters here.

News:
Midnight Mansion 2: The Haunted Hills version 1.0.2b has been released. This fixes a bug in Jasperlone Mountains Hard. Simply re-download the game, bring over your custom mansions folder from the old version and play on. All your saves and high scores will not be changed.

Midnight Mansion HD (MM1) is now available at the Mac App Store and at the Actionsoft website. A Windows version is now available.

Here is a list of downloadable MM1 HD ready custom mansions, which also work in the Windows version of the game.

The MM2 custom mansion Hanging Gardens of Babylon by Freddy/SandyBean/Josephine/brell was updated on 19. Nov 2023 to add a fourth section. Available here

Too many forums ?
23.12.2006 at 03:51:27

With some delay, I first of all want to thank Vern for the facilities he gave us, MM-addicts, with these boards. I was surprised, but much more flattered, that he chose me as the first person to give me administrator-rights. Although I have no experience at all, I will try to make the best of it, with the help of some other people. From the emails during the time-out, I know that there are certainly Mansioneers who want to help.

What I tried to do last night, was making the forums visible for guests, while they are unable to post things. I think that these is the best way to disable nonsense as much as possible. And to avoid posts of members who forgot to log in. Wink As you could see, I didn't succeed so far.  Cry

About the current forums I already made yesterday ...  Of course it is right that the list is now very long. But I should not say it is a clutter. On the previous boards there were a lot of complains, and in my opinion rightly, that when the administrators do NOT create one forum for each mansion things get ... cluttered. Sorry for using that word. But to keep it to the biggest problem, for Midnight Mazes and Monsters, at the time that the former site went down, there were more than ten threads of which one had 25 pages. So everyone was begging for something more structured and that was what I tried to do in this way. Because the two mansionlists are indeed long (and look so empty), I used the alphabetical order for the custom mansions and the map-order for the included ones. Perhaps I need to make that last list also alphabetical. To summarize: what I did was based on earlier comments. And I hope I did well. Mmmm ... it feels good to be in discussion again!  Smiley

Meanwhile there is still a lot to do. But at the end, when Vern feels that everything seems to run smoothly, I hope that there will come a 6th tab at the ActionSoft/MidnightMansion-website, called "Fansite". And that is my challenge: creating something that he believes in.

Well, I think the tab would be called "Forums" but yeah, that's the idea, to add a tab to the main site eventually. Although if I call it Forums, I suppose it'll take you to a page where you can choose either general ActionSoft forums, or these forums, which are specific to one game.

Anyway, here's what I suggest for reducing the number of forums: have a couple general-purpose mansion forums (custom mansion discussion, etc.), BUT for any mansions that generate a rather large amount of talk, give them a new forum. So I'd create a forum right off the bat for MMaM. But not every custom mansion needs its own forum. I know you're trying to be fair and unbiased, but I think it's better in the end to do a custom forum for only those mansions that generate those kinds of excessive numbers of messages. Most custom mansions won't do this, and in fact some won't even get any talk at all. Meaning there will be empty forums just sitting there.

-Vern (Sorry, using admin account again apparently)

Ahhh, much better!

Is there a way to add a description for each forum? Like, I don't know what "Speaker's Corner" is... so if it's possible to add descriptions for each forum, that would help.

I'd also like to see someone test out uploading/downloading mansions.

The answer on your question is yes. And sooner or later it is coming.

And just right now I am testing uploading a mansion. To be continued.

Was about to ask about that... Because when I clock on the up/downloading forum, it says I'm not allowed to access that. But that must be because you're currently working on it.

OK.  Freddy has changed the forums and the members can start new threads.  I have a suggetstion to avoid too many threads on one subject and crossposting:  The moderators can move posts from one thread to another and delete crossposts.  I think that it is only fair to do so because otherwise we would eventually have 10+ threads on MMaM  Wink
I'd like the forummembers to comment on this.  Is it OK to move posts (with an annoncement) to prevent cluttering?

Well, I don't know if I am a "normal" forummember. A "hard" one? Wink But with shrinking down the number of forums, I am afraid it will almost be obliged.

And there should possibly be a forum created just for MMaM, as well as a forum created for any other custom mansion that generates that kind of posting traffic.
