Actionsoft's latest game, Midnight Mansion 2: The Haunted Hills,  includes 28 mansions. The 8 Built-in mansions have 3 difficulties along with 4 extra custom mansions. We don't have that many other custom MM2 mansions yet. Design your own custom mansion! Info below.  You can find out more about the game here.

The original Midnight Mansion game contains over 150 mansions. The 8 included mansions which have 3 difficulty levels each, and about 115 approved custom mansions which you can download here and also several freely uploaded mansions. To know the difference between these three types of mansions, click here.

Are you a creative person and thinking of designing a mansion yourself? Or want to know about how to upload it? Click here and we'll show you! You'll find guidelines for betatesters here.

News:
Midnight Mansion 2: The Haunted Hills version 1.0.2b has been released. This fixes a bug in Jasperlone Mountains Hard. Simply re-download the game, bring over your custom mansions folder from the old version and play on. All your saves and high scores will not be changed.

Midnight Mansion HD (MM1) is now available at the Mac App Store and at the Actionsoft website. A Windows version is now available.

Here is a list of downloadable MM1 HD ready custom mansions, which also work in the Windows version of the game.

The MM2 custom mansion Hanging Gardens of Babylon by Freddy/SandyBean/Josephine/brell was updated on 19. Nov 2023 to add a fourth section. Available here

Galaga type game

Again, since I don't have my own blog yet...

I think my next game project will probably be a Galaga type game. That is, a space shooter with a simple starfield background, tight keyboard controls, and ships that have interesting movements. I don't feel any Mac games have really gotten this genre right. I hear from Psychotronic that Kaijin is popular, but I don't understand why. The game feels so weird to me.

Anyway, I know many Midnight Mansion players may have no interest in a "twitch" shooter, but I'll be making it for *me*, to do something that *I* want to work on and play. As a nice simple game project that will be a break from things like Midnight Mansion, where I have to deal with legacy code, legacy resources, etc. And a break from a project I started last summer, which was a casual game that I hope to finish some day, but it was hard to work on because I don't really enjoy casual games myself.  Tongue

Psychotronic may end up being an alpha tester for this game too, because he also likes twitch shooters like Galaga.

Nice idea. It would be cool if the main character could get in a vehicle and drive it. Would it have a map editor?  Roll Eyes Could you make custom art?  Roll Eyes I didn't really understand what a Galaga type game is. But one thing: Shooter game, I'd want to buy it!  Smiley

The closest thing on Mac right now is probably Titan Attacks, from Puppy Games. There's a demo of that available. Galaga-style shooters are games where you control a space ship that can move left and right on the bottom of the screen, and shoot up at formations of enemies that are attacking you from above. Like Space Invaders, but usually with more swooping.

@Wingy: I think you're thinking of games like Metal Slug and Contra, or your own Ted game. Galaga was a classic spaceship shooter.

I'm liking the sound of that! Espesially wingy's idea of a map editor...     I love making things in games, that's usually half the fun for me!!!
