Actionsoft's latest game, Midnight Mansion 2: The Haunted Hills,  includes 28 mansions. The 8 Built-in mansions have 3 difficulties along with 4 extra custom mansions. We don't have that many other custom MM2 mansions yet. Design your own custom mansion! Info below.  You can find out more about the game here.

The original Midnight Mansion game contains over 150 mansions. The 8 included mansions which have 3 difficulty levels each, and about 115 approved custom mansions which you can download here and also several freely uploaded mansions. To know the difference between these three types of mansions, click here.

Are you a creative person and thinking of designing a mansion yourself? Or want to know about how to upload it? Click here and we'll show you! You'll find guidelines for betatesters here.

News:
Midnight Mansion 2: The Haunted Hills version 1.0.2b has been released. This fixes a bug in Jasperlone Mountains Hard. Simply re-download the game, bring over your custom mansions folder from the old version and play on. All your saves and high scores will not be changed.

Midnight Mansion HD (MM1) is now available at the Mac App Store and at the Actionsoft website. A Windows version is now available.

Here is a list of downloadable MM1 HD ready custom mansions, which also work in the Windows version of the game.

The MM2 custom mansion Hanging Gardens of Babylon by Freddy/SandyBean/Josephine/brell was updated on 19. Nov 2023 to add a fourth section. Available here

Luris too difficult?
27.04.2009 at 23:08:16

Perhaps it is... but it's supposed to be hard... Smiley

As I wrote among the first posts, this is a mansion perhaps best played for a very long time. That is, you try to get to the next save, and when you've done so, you forget about Luris for a while. Otherwise it can get very frustrating...

Anyway... I've been listening to all the comments and it seems to me that the mansion isn't impossible [since some have finished the mansion]
but that there is a risk of losing interest. I  have therefore made the Luris Edu [as in educational version Wink] which I soon will send to the admins. In this version, the rooms are the same, but there are lots of moneybags/backpacks and a save every I don't know really, two or three rooms or so...

This version can be played first, to get a feeling for the mansion, or parallel with the original version [to "practice" without risk of dying that easily]. Or not at all, of course, since it's actually "the same" mansion Smiley

I hope this will get some players to reconsider their choice of leaving Luris unfinished.

Best wishes

It does has very difficult parts. I think I have asked for also normal or easy versions of the mansions as a lot of us aren't to skilled playing. I have improved my skills over the years (something like 4 years now) but I prefer more normal versions.

In Luris I do like the "luriga" things but some jumps are just to difficult, especially when you have be very fast in your fingers. Sad

I look forward to an edu version. But I am not giving up on Luris.

I like the idea of an easier version.  Maybe we should change the definition of the original version from "hard" to "very hard"?

Yes Brell, Very Hard would be a better description. Smiley

And YES Olle, that is a great idea.  At least we can play without the frustration of a pending heart attack. lololol and get to see the end of the game with a Triumph! with out having to cheat!  lololol Smiley

The easier version will not be "easy", it will just be "not close to game over" [to use one of Freddy's definitions] since there will be a lot of save pedestals and quite some money but no change in the rooms themselves. It will be released before the weekend, just have to check if it gets "easy" enough, and that the save pedestals don't mess up the rooms... Smiley

I think it would be a bonus to have an 'edu' version, but I have to say something here that we all seem to have forgotten.

When a designer builds a mansion, it is his/her own personal creation, and a gift to all MM players.

If it is not constructed for a contest or to be included in the paid game mansions, the designer has what is called 'creative license' to realize his vision into a working, playable, and hopefully enjoyable place for Jack.

If you are not enjoying the mansion, there are over a hundred others to choose from.

I do not feel it is the designers responsibility to create a mansion that pleases all people at all times.

For those less experienced players, stick to the easy/med mansions, but don't try and make a designer conform to your level of skill.

These are just my thoughts, and not intended to offend anyone.

Thanks,

SandyBean Smiley

Very well put, SandyBean.  My opinion exactly.

Ollie:  Of course the "easier" version will not be an "easy" version  Wink

Agreed. This mansion is so stinking hard I quit! But it's Olle's mansion, and he is free to make it so.

And maybe someday I'll become skilled enough to get through it   Huh

OMG.....Will everyone CHILLLLLLAX.   Smiley

First you ALL complain that it is to hard and or don't want to play it.  Literally want to throw in the towel!
Never getting to see this AMAZING, UNBELIEVABLE CREATIVITY......and that's suppose to be ok?

Then when THE CREATOR HIMSELF (in HIS infinite wisdom) decides to release a slightly easier version, so that more devoted MM'er can get to play & see his and her MASTERPIECE......suddenly, everyone is up in arms defending creator rights.  What's that all about?????

OMG, in the real world, "If the wheel is broken.....Fix it!" PERIOD!   Smiley

Who said Olle can't/shouldn't make an "easier" version? If he wants more people to be able to play his mansion, great. If he wants to keep it only for the expert players, that's great too.

These "creator's rights" posts bring up a valid point. Personally, I'm not skilled enough to play Luris, but I certainly DO appreciate Olle's efforts.

Besides, the experts probably get bored playing easy mansions. Luris is perfect for them  Smiley
