A brief history of the game
At first there was Midnight Mansion, now often called MM1. This game package was for Mac only and contained 8 mansions, each on easy, normal and hard level. Above that there was a builder included, so that customers could design mansions themselves.
Then there was Midnight Mansion HD, now abbreviated as MM1 HD for both Mac and Windows. It contained the 3x8 mansions from MM1 plus 3x a bonus mansion: Tomb of Princes. All in high definition!
Actionsoft's latest game, Midnight Mansion 2: The Haunted Hills, includes 28 mansions with a lot of new features. The 8 built-in mansions have 3 difficulties along with 4 extra custom mansions. Yes indeed, the MM2 package also has an included builder to create mansions!

Custom mansions

In the past decades several customers started experimenting with the builders. Creating rooms. Talking about it on the Midnight Mansion Forums. Sending their own designed mansions to other board members to test them. And finally sending them to the administrators of MMF.
Result? Nearly 200 extra mansions are downloadable from these boards and some of them have over 100 rooms.
If you like to download custom mansions, go to the General Custom Mansions Area (Mac and Windows) where you find the lists with all the download spots.

Music in MM2
19.01.2011 at 00:41:02

I'm fiddling with making a few rooms in MM2, but having a real hard time getting music to play !

I have entered my starting room #, and plugged in #'s from 1 - 4, but still no music?

Any suggestions?

OH, one more question while I am here .... is there any way to have water And lava in the same mansion?

thanks in advance,

SandyBean Smiley

The new music in MM2 is 5, 6, 7, 8

There are different types of empty mansions that have the water, lava and acid in their data in the custom mansion folder. If you're missing yours, best to re-download the game and get them.

No - I'm pretty sure it's either/or. Acid is the default, and Lava or Water are overrides of the default.

Thanks guys, that helps with the water And Lava idea in one mansion, but I'm still getting frustrated with the music component.

I have entered my starting room in the Mansion options, and then put in all kinds of numbers (from 1 - 9) for the room options !!!!  Everything from 1 to 9 to 09 to 90 to whatever I can think of.  Still no music when I hit 'test room'.

But when I go to play an included mansion or custom mansion, I can hear music.

Any help would be muchly appreciated !

Thanks,

SandyBean  Smiley

Out of curiosity.. did you try to *play* your rooms through the game (not using test room).

Yes, curiously music doesn't play in the Editor.

Yes, the editor does not play music, and also Rob is correct -- you can't mix lava and water in the same mansion. Sorry.
